2026 FSA Coaching Conference

The recent coaching conference proved to be a valuable and inspiring opportunity to unite the football community, share best practice, and continue raising the standard of coaching across the state. Bringing together coaches from a range of backgrounds, the day focused on practical learning, collaboration, and wellbeing, key pillars in the ongoing development of the game.

Professor Shane Pill from Flinders University set the tone for a day of learning and connection, with an engaging session on Games-Based Coaching, highlighting modern approaches to player development. This was complemented by a practical goalkeeping session led by Adelaide United A-League Goalkeeping Coach Eugene Galekovic, offering hands-on insights that coaches could immediately apply in their own environments. A networking break provided an opportunity for attendees to connect, share experiences, and strengthen relationships within the coaching community.

The late morning and early afternoon sessions continued with a practical field-based presentation from Adrian Stenta Adelaide United's A-League Assistant Coach, before participants broke into smaller groups for the first set of breakout rooms. The focus shifted to coach wellbeing, with Chris Lynch delivering an important session emphasising the role of mental health, balance, and support in sustaining long-term coaching success. The day concluded with a second round of breakout discussions and a formal close, allowing coaches to reflect on key learnings and next steps.

Overall, the conference successfully delivered a balanced program of theory, practical application, and wellbeing, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and continuous improvement. It was a strong step forward in supporting coaches and ensuring the ongoing growth and quality of football across the state.
