Club Changer is Football Australia’s Club Development Program which aims to protect and enhance our clubs, make them stronger and more resilient, lead them in building welcoming and inclusive cultures, and educate them on positive environments for players, coaches, volunteers, and officials while planning for long term viability and success (Football Australia 2025). Each month a club will be recognised for their efforts across various categories.
This month, the theme is ‘Participation’. Football South Australia congratulates Adelaide Brasfoot Football Club on their selection as Club Changer Club of the Month for South Australia.

Adelaide Brasfoot has contributed to women's participation in football by launching their first Senior Women’s team, providing opportunities for adult women—primarily Brazilian and Latin American immigrants—to engage in football. Many of their players moved to Australia to study and seek permanent residency, with some having no prior football experience, either at a competitive or recreational level, and others with no experience at all!
In January 2024, Brasfoot began offering a Futsal training program for women with two sessions per week, catering to both advanced and beginner players. By November 2024, they took a major step forward by transitioning this Futsal program to outdoor football, having enough women to officially form the Brasfoot Senior Women’s Team. Today, they have approximately 30 women as part of their inaugural squad.
Their first matches took place earlier this year, where they played four friendly games. More importantly, these games confirmed that stepping onto the field was the right decision. The team is highly motivated, with staff is led by women, and supported by their families, partners, children, and wider community.
The team are registered in Division 3 of the Football SA Women's Community Leagues and are excited to begin their journey in official competitions. Their growth highlights the importance of providing access to football for women of all levels and backgrounds.
Adelaide Brasfoot Football Club shared:
"The Club Changer Program has been very effective in helping us, especially on the organisational side. It provided us with a strong foundation for aligning club priorities and focusing on the key areas our club needs."

We would also like to give a special mention to our runners-up, Woodside Warriors SC. The Warriors developed their own 5-week program which saw 40 players aged 4-8 attending each week. This has seen 50% of players sign on in the last five years, doubling their participation numbers in U6, U7, and U8 in 2025.
