African Youth Football Program Carnival Brings Schools Together Through Football

Football SA’s African Youth Football Program Carnival brought together just under 200 students for a fantastic day of football, learning and connection.

The carnival welcomed students from seven schools across South Australia, including Playford International College, Roma Mitchell Secondary College, Craigmore High School, Salisbury East High School, Salisbury High School, Parafield Gardens High School and Mark Oliphant College.

Throughout the day, participants took part in 5-a-side match play, giving students the opportunity to enjoy competitive football in a fun and inclusive environment. The carnival provided a platform for young people to connect with others, represent their schools and celebrate the role football can play in bringing communities together.

As part of the program, students also participated in a Respectful Relationships workshop delivered by Ukash from the Multicultural Community Council of South Australia.

Adding to the excitement of the day, participants also had the chance to take a break from the action and watch the Socceroos’ World Cup match against Paraguay, creating a special football atmosphere across the carnival.

The African Youth Football Program Carnival was a great celebration of culture, community and football, with students showing enthusiasm, teamwork and respect throughout the day.

Special thanks to Flinders University, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, and the South Australian Government for their valued support as partners of the program.
