Carl's Jr. Youth Cup Finals Deliver a Weekend to Remember

ServiceFM Stadium played host to an unforgettable weekend of youth football as the Carl's Jr. Youth Cup Finals showcased the very best emerging talent from across South Australia. Across Friday evening and Sunday, players, coaches and supporters were treated to thrilling contests, dramatic penalty shoot-outs and memorable performances in front of passionate crowds.

The action began on Friday night with two exciting finals. In the Under 16 YPL Girls Final, Adelaide University claimed a deserved 2-0 victory over Campbelltown City to lift the trophy. On the adjacent pitch, Campbelltown City made a fast start in the Under 16 Carl's Jr. Youth Premier Cup Final, defeating Croydon FC 3-1 after taking control early in the contest.

Friday's action set the tone for what would become a spectacular day of finals on Sunday.

 

 

The first four matches kicked off at 8:30am, with drama unfolding immediately. Adelaide University and Adelaide City could not be separated in the Under 12 YPL A Girls Final, finishing 2-2 after regulation time. Adelaide City held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out, securing the title with a 4-3 victory from the spot.

Adelaide City continued its impressive morning by claiming the Under 12 Carl's Jr. Youth Premier Cup, producing a dominant 6-0 win over Cumberland United.

The Under 12 Carl's Jr. Youth State Cup also went the distance, with the Football SA State Squad and MetroStars locked at 2-2 before MetroStars prevailed 4-3 on penalties. Meanwhile, in the Under 13 YPL Girls Final, Western Strikers edged Adelaide Comets 1-0, with a solitary goal proving enough to secure the Carl's Jr. Youth Girls Premier Cup.

 

 

The 10:00am session featured another four finals, with penalty shoot-outs continuing to be a recurring theme. Campbelltown City and MetroStars played out a scoreless draw in the Under 15 Youth State League Final before MetroStars claimed the championship 5-4 in the shoot-out.

The Under 13 Carl's Jr. Youth Premier Cup Final between Adelaide Olympic and Adelaide Comets also required penalties after the sides finished level at 1-1. Adelaide Olympic converted confidently to claim a 4-2 shoot-out victory.

In the Under 13 Carl's Jr. Youth State Cup Final, Adelaide City's defence stood firm as a single goal proved enough to defeat Croydon FC and secure another trophy for the club.

The final match of the time slot saw Adelaide Jaguars and Campbelltown City battle through a tense Under 14 YPL A Girls Final. After neither side could find a winner in regular time, Adelaide Jaguars emerged victorious 4-2 on penalties.

Three more finals commenced at 11:40am, beginning with South Adelaide taking on Campbelltown City in the Under 15 YPL A Girls Final. A late South Adelaide goal sealed a thrilling 2-1 victory and the Carl's Jr. Youth Girls Premier Cup title.

One of the standout matches of the weekend came in the Under 14 Carl's Jr. Youth Premier Cup Final between WT Birkalla and Cumberland United. Locked together after four goals in regulation time, the teams produced the longest penalty shoot-out of the day. Cumberland United eventually prevailed in extraordinary fashion, winning the shoot-out 14-13 after an unforgettable contest.

The final Youth State Cup of the weekend saw Adelaide City defeat Munno Para in the Under 14 Youth State League Final, with three first-half goals laying the foundation for another impressive cup triumph.

 

 

The final session of the day featured three more entertaining finals. Croydon FC secured the Under 17 Carl's Jr. Youth Premier Cup with an impressive victory over FK Beograd, scoring all three of its goals before half-time to take control of the contest.

MetroStars claimed the Under 18 Girls Premier Cup after a dominant second-half performance against Salisbury Inter. Three unanswered goals after the break secured the championship in convincing fashion.

The final match of the weekend provided a fitting conclusion to an outstanding event. Adelaide Olympic and Vipers FC finished level at 1-1 in the Under 15 Carl's Jr. Youth Premier Cup Final, sending the seventh match of the weekend to penalties. In front of a packed grandstand and enthusiastic spectators surrounding the stadium, Vipers FC converted their chances to claim a 5-3 shoot-out victory and end the finals weekend on a dramatic high.

 

 

The Carl's Jr. Youth Cup Finals once again highlighted the strength of youth football across South Australia, with clubs from across the state coming together to celebrate the next generation of players. Across Friday and Sunday, approximately 6,000 spectators attended ServiceFM Stadium, creating a fantastic atmosphere despite the cold and wet winter conditions.
