Football SA is seeking an African Youth Program Coordinator

Football South Australia (Football SA) is the governing body for soccer (football) in South Australia.  It is responsible for overseeing, promoting and developing the sport within the state.  Football SA is affiliated with Football Australia, which in turn is connected to the international governing body, FIFA.

The African Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, management, and delivery of Football South Australia’s (FSA) African Youth Program. This program aims to empower young African students through football, fostering engagement in education, personal development, and community integration. The role involves collaborating with schools, government, private and public stakeholders to promote youth participation, address barriers to education, and support multicultural communities in South Australia.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Program Coordination

  • Plan, implement, and manage the African Youth Program across participating schools as identified by the Department of Education.
  • Coordinate a structured schedule of training sessions, workshops, and events during school terms and holidays.
  • Oversee the delivery of specialised training and School Holiday Programs at ServiceFM Stadium.
  • Organise the annual African Youth Cup, engaging all participating schools and fostering community connections.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for schools and certified coaches involved in the program.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, schools, and private and public sector organisations.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to secure resources, funding, and support for program sustainability.
  • Foster relationships with local football clubs to create pathways for participants beyond the program.

Community and Student Development

  • Engage African youth in grades 7–9, promoting education, positive life choices, and social inclusion through football.
  • Address barriers to education and integration by providing support and fostering trust with young participants and their families.
  • Leverage key events, such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup, AFC Women’s Asian Cup and Olympics, to promote female participation in football and related programs.
  • Ensure all programs are inclusive and accommodate diverse abilities, genders, and cultural backgrounds.

Program Administration and Reporting

  • Manage certified coaches to deliver training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation, outcomes, and feedback.
  • Provide regular reports to the General Manager Football Development, Head of participation and stakeholders, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and implement best practice coaching methodologies.

Event and Workshop Delivery

  • Develop and deliver workshops on career pathways, life skills, and personal development for participants.
  • Coordinate logistics for all program events, ensuring smooth execution and participant satisfaction.
  • Promote workshops and events to maximise engagement and participation.

Knowledge, skills and behavior required 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in Sports Management, Education, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Experience in coordinating youth programs, particularly within multicultural or community settings.
  • Coaching accreditation or willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities, including culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groups.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to oversee multiple program activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and participants.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CRM systems for program administration and reporting.
  • Event planning and management expertise.

  • RRHAN-EC Fundamentals and/or Master Training

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake potential regional, intrastate, interstate, or overseas travel as required.
