National Premier League SA 2020
Round 5

Campbelltown City vs Adelaide Olympic
Venue: Steve Woodcock Sports Centre
Date: 21/08/2020 07:30 PM
Second-placed City kick off Round 5 of NPLSA action under lights at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre against an out of sorts Olympic side.
The home team maintained their grip on second with a resounding 4-0 win over Adelaide United, marking a third win on the trot with a combined goal difference of 9-1.
Olympic, meanwhile, continue to struggle their way through the post-break competition, their 1-0 loss to Adelaide City a third consecutive fixture where they have failed to come away with three points.
City have MetroStars and Raiders breathing down their neck which makes every point an important one, while Olympic must stop the rot and prevent themselves from rapidly losing touch with the top half.

Raiders vs Modbury Jets
Venue: Croatian Sports Centre
Date: 22/08/2020 03:00 PM
A win for Raiders last weekend brought their season back on the right track and will hope to string two wins together for the first time since Round 17 when they face off against the struggling Jets.
Raiders successfully navigated their trip to Para Hills, coming away with a 2-1 win and crucially keeping themselves in touch with the top of the ladder and within a win of second placed Campbelltown City.
The Jets have fared the worst of any side since the resumption of the season and were hammered 4-0 by MetroStars, leaving them perilously close to the relegation zone at the halfway mark.
The good news for the visitors is that there’s plenty of time yet to turn their season around but it will have to come sooner rather than later, with sides now ready to capitalise on their vulnerability.
Raiders: David Carosi, Adam Van Dommele, James Odenwalder, Ibrahima Soumah, Noah Holmes, Thomas Brown, Oliver Zafiridis, Jake Monaco, Vasilios Tryfopoulos, Alun Webb, Sallu Kamara, Lucas Cuschieri, Mohammed Sumaoro, Jacob Lever, Paul Blefari (C), Emanuel Philip, Nicholas Munro (GK), Nicholas Basile

Adelaide Comets vs MetroStars
Venue: SA Athletics Stadium
Date: 22/08/2020 03:00 PM
The match of the round sees two of the state’s top sides face off against one another in an encounter that will have major ramifications at the top of the ladder.
Comets punished MetroStars for their recent indifferent form to overthrow the ladder leaders and snatch top spot for themselves, with a win against the Kings last weekend allowing them to stave off their challengers for the time being.
The visitors responded to losing first place in resounding fashion, hammering the Jets 4-0 and ensuring that they were able to keep within three points of the leaders.
A win for MetroStars will catapult them above their opponents given their superior goal difference, while victory for Comets would further widen the gap between themselves and the chasing pack.

Adelaide Blue Eagles vs Croydon Kings
Venue: Marden Sports Complex
Date: 22/08/2020 03:00 PM
The Blue Eagles have continued to soar since the break, despite back to back draws in the past fortnight, and will be hoping for more of their improved form in their battle with an inconsistent Kings team.
Last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Cumberland United stretched the home side’s unbeaten run to seven matches, a run of form that has seen them leap from the bottom of the ladder to ninth and just one point behind fifth.
The Kings sit in sixth and were defeated last weekend by Comets but will take confidence from matching it with the ladder leaders for much of the contest, only being undone by an 80th minute winner.
With just one point between the two clubs, either side would likely push through the congestion and move into (or stay in) the top half should they come away victorious.
Adelaide Blue Eagles: 1. Richard Goss, 3. Paul Espina, 4. Christian Sotira, 5. Christopher Annicchiarico (C), 6. Brylon Nthoane, 7. Shekubah Hutton-Addy, 8. Damien Crettenden, 10. Hamish Mccabe, 11. Para Hills Knights vs Adelaide City
Venue: The Paddocks
Date: 22/08/2020 03:00 PM
The Knights remain rooted to the bottom of the table at the halfway mark of the season and without a point in over a month, with a visit from City their latest assignment.
A 2-0 loss to high-flying Raiders condemned the home side to a fourth straight defeat and left them four points adrift of safety, albeit with half the season still to play.
City have struggled to string results together since the break, with their 1-0 triumph over Olympic their first in four matches, but still sit in fifth on the ladder with a game in hand on their immediate competitors.
A loss for the home side will further compound their woes so they will be desperate to salvage anything, particularly against an inconsistent City outfit.
Para Hills Knights: Brima Kamara, Ryan Hanson, Paul Wilson, 2. Will Hendon, 3. James Wilson, 4. Kieran Mcnally, 6. Mohamed Conneh, 7. Ali Rayez Muradi, 8. Luka Chikwuba, 10. Isaac Mullen, 11. Adelaide United FC vs Cumberland United
Venue: VALO Football Centre
Date: 22/08/2020 03:00 PM
United have struggled significantly since the resumption after a positive start but will be keen to kick-start their season once again when they come up against Cumberland United tomorrow.
A heavy 4-0 defeat to Campbelltown will have hurt United after draws against MetroStars and Blue Eagles, leaving them without a win in six and conceding three or more in four of those matches.
The visitors have faltered somewhat over the past few weeks, backing up their three wins in four fixtures with three successive draws, but are still unbeaten over their past five matches.
A win for United would bring them closer to the Jets in tenth, while it would be just as important for their opponents in the fight to push through the mid-table congestion.
