Campbelltown City vs Sturt Lions

Venue: Steve Woodcock Sports Centre

Date: Tuesday 7 September, 7:30 PM

Mid-week NPL returns tonight with Campbelltown facing off against Sturt under lights at Steve Woodcock Sports Centre as they duke it out for a spot in the top six.

The hosts missed a golden opportunity to move into outright third on the ladder (and six points behind second with two games in hand) as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat to an in-form Croydon outfit.

The Lions surrendered their place in the top six with a disappointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Comets, marking their second successive loss and extending their winless run in the league to five matches when they least wanted it.

Three points the way of Campbelltown could see them overtake MetroStars in third should they lose or draw tonight, while a Sturt victory would see them jump all the way up to fourth, if not higher, before this weekend’s fixtures.

Croydon FC vs MetroStars

Venue: Jack Smith Park

Date: Tuesday 7 September, 8:15 PM

The second match of our Tuesday night double-header pits one of the league’s form teams in Croydon against another who has struggled to get points on the board of late in MetroStars.

Croydon all but secured NPL survival on the weekend with a crucial 1-0 win over Campbelltown, as Luis Benedetti’s curling effort from long range was parried into the path of Sebastian Goode, who rifled home to earn his side all three points.

MetroStars’ double chance hopes were dealt another hammer blow last weekend as they were beaten 3-2 by Adelaide United despite an impressive Joshua Mori brace, falling eight points behind Comets in second with three matches to play this season.

Not content with survival, Croydon will now be gunning for what would be an incredible assault on the top six, but a win to MetroStars would go a long way towards allaying any fears of missing out altogether.

Croydon Kings line-up: 1. Gianni Tramontin, 3. Filimon Asefa, 5. Luke Klimek (C), 6. Christopher Vivian, 7. Sebastian Goode, 8. Adam Martinello, 9. Nathan Munro, 10. Antoni Trimboli, 11. MU v FU

Metro United vs Fulham United

Venue: TK Shutter Reserve

Date: Tuesday 7 September, 7:30 PM

Mid-week WNPL action kicks off tonight, as Metro aim to cement their top four spot but face a rejuvenated Fulham outfit starting to pick up steam.

Metro moved into the top half for the first time in many weeks with an upset 2-1 win over their conquerors in the Cup final, Inter, with goals from skipper Vanessa Reed and Chanel Todino setting their side up to claim all three points.

Fulham have hit a rich vein of form in the back half of the season, registering their third win in their last four games with a thumping 3-1 victory over Uni thanks in large part to a well-taken goal and incredible assist by Fiona Worts.

Three points to the hosts would increase their lead over NTC to four points in fourth, while Fulham are now in a position to jump from the foot of the table (which has looked unlikely throughout the season) with a win tonight.

Metro United WFC line-up: 1. Melanie Comyns (GK), 3. Emma Cotgrove, 4. Talia Bilardo, 6. Laura Stockdale, 7. Millie Scott, 9. Roxanne Dodd, 11. Lauren Steer, 12. Rochelle Draper, 13.
