Football South Australia is the governing body for football in South Australia. We are a large member-based organisation with an official participant base of in excess of 40,000 players across 14 associations, with over 300 clubs statewide.
Football SA is responsible for high performance programs for talented athletes, competition management, the management and performance of Servicefm Stadium, governance, financial management and strategy for the game in the state.
The Community Referee Recruitment, Engagement and Support role focuses on enhancing the recruitment, development, and retention of junior and community referees. The position is responsible for ensuring a positive and supportive environment for Match Officials, providing essential support systems to help them smoothly transition from entry-level education courses to practical officiating. A key aspect of this role is fostering strong relationships with referees, their guardians, and regional stakeholders to promote the long-term engagement and development of Match Officials.

Problem-solving aptitude to address urgent and unexpected issues related to referee appointments and match day duties. - High level of adaptability to handle a dynamic work environment with varying demands.

Experience
- Experience coordinating Match Officials or similar roles within junior or community-level sports.
- Experience in managing the scheduling and appointment of Match Officials or similar for various competitions and tournaments.
- Experience working with volunteer or community-based roles in a sporting or similar.
- Experience handling administrative duties, including managing payments and invoicing.
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of officiating pathways, including the recruitment, development, and retention of Match Officials.
- Familiarity with competition administration systems (e.g., Dribl) for managing appointments and match-related data.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child safety protocols, particularly in relation to sports.
- Awareness of regional sports development and working with regional stakeholders to promote referee growth.
Education / Vocational Qualifications
- Qualification in sports management, education/ training, or a related field (or equivalent experience in a relevant role).
- Valid South Australian Working with Children Check
- Driver’s license and willingness to travel for regional development activities.
- Accreditation in football officiating (desirable but not essential).
