Modbury Vista vs Adelaide University
6:15 pm | Friday 27 May | State Centre for Football

Round Eight of the WNPLSA gets kicked off tonight with three exciting games. The first of tonight's tripleheader will see Modbury Vista host Adelaide University at the State Centre for Football. Modbury Vista remains bottom of the WNPLSA after only recording two points in their opening seven games, already conceding 27 goals. The team has been in better form in recent weeks, securing draws in consecutive weeks against the fellow bottom three teams, WT Birkalla and Fulham United. Alana Fitzsimmons 53rd minute goal gave Modbury Vista a 1-0 lead over WT Birkalla in their last fixture before WT Birkalla converted a penalty in the 68th minute to secure a point. A win is vital for Modbury Vista as they look to remove themselves from the bottom of the ladder.
Adelaide University has not been in any better form in recent weeks, not winning any of their last four league matches. In their last four fixtures, Adelaide University has recorded three losses and only one draw against Football SA NTC. In their last league fixture, Adelaide University was beaten 5-0 by league leaders West Adelaide which has seen them drop to sixth. The team did progress to the next round of the WNPL & WSL Cup last week as they beat Women’s State League team Campbelltown City 6-0. Adelaide University will hope that leading goal scorer Tanaye Morris can continue her scoring form to lead the team to their first win since Round Four.

WT Birkalla vs Metro United WFC
8:15 pm | Friday 27 May | Jack Smith Park

WT Birkalla remains winless in the league after seven games, losing four and drawing three. In their last league fixture, WT Birkalla drew with bottom side Modbury Vista 1-1 as Marie Heinrich converted a 68th-minute penalty to rescue a point after being 1-0 down. Currently, no WT Birkalla players have scored more than one goal, heading into Round Eight with the team only scoring five goals, demonstrating their struggles to secure a win early in the season. WT Birkalla progressed to the Quarter Finals of the 2022 WNPL & WSL Cup last week as they beat current Women’s State League Leaders Flinders United 1-0 as Sarah Chappel scored in the 86th minute. A win could potentially see them distance themselves from the current bottom two and close the gap between them and the current seventh place Metro United WFC.
Metro United WFC recovered from two consecutive league defeats with a win over Fulham United in Round Seven. Roxanne Dodd starred for the team once again, scoring her third goal in two weeks, while Romy Franceschilli secured her first goal of the season in the 87th minute to secure a 2-1 win. With their Round Seven win, Metro United WFC secured a 5-0 win over Adelaide Comets Reserves to reach the Quarter Finals of the WNPL & WSL Cup with Dodd and Mirella Scalzi both recording braces, while Victoria Mansueto secured her first cup goal of the season. A win could see Metro United WFC enter the top five if results go in their favour.

Salisbury Inter vs Fulham United
8:15 pm | Friday 27 May | State Centre for Football
Last Meeting: (20/5/22) Round of 16 WNPL & WSL Cup | Salisbury Inter 5 vs Fulham United 1

Two teams who are no strangers to each other face off for the second time in two weeks as Salisbury Inter host Fulham United at the State Centre for Football. Last Friday night saw Salisbury Inter take on Fulham United in the Round of 16 of the Australia Cup, with Salisbury Inter ultimately securing a 5-1 win, with the team having five different goal scorers. In the league this season Salisbury Inter has been in good form, winning all their games from Round Four to Six, however, faced their second defeat of the season by Adelaide City, losing 2-1. Currently in third, Salisbury Inter are five points off first and second, meaning they need to win and both Adelaide City and West Adelaide must drop points for the team to close the gap.
Fulham United are still yet to win in 2022 as they enter Round Eight with five losses and two draws while having just been knocked out of the WNPL & WSL Cup by tonight’s opponents Salisbury Inter. Fulham United recorded their fifth defeat of the season last round as Metro United WFC scored late to secure a 2-1 win, cancelling Natasha Vella’s 84th-minute equaliser. Fulham United are currently the league's lowest-scoring team with only four goals scored in their opening seven games. A win could potentially see them overtake WT Birkalla and remove themselves from the bottom two.

Adelaide Comets vs Adelaide City
5:15 pm | Saturday 28 May | State Centre for Football
Last Meeting: (20/5/22) Round of 16 | Adelaide Comets 1 vs Adelaide City 3

Adelaide Comets and Adelaide City face off at the State Centre for Football for the second time in two weeks. When both teams met last week, Adelaide Comets lost 3-1 knocking them out of this year's WNPL & WSL Cup, with Chrissy Panagaris 71st minute equaliser not being enough as Adelaide City scored two late goals. Adelaide Comets have been in great form in recent weeks as they have recorded three wins and a draw in their last four games, seeing them jump into the top four. Chrissy Panagaris and Georgie Nicola have been in great form in recent weeks, as they continue to score to lead their team to victory. Currently, level on points with Salisbury Inter, Adelaide Comets could secure third place if Salisbury is to drop points this round.
Adelaide City has been a frightening team to play against in recent weeks as they currently sit in second, level on points with current leaders West Adelaide. Winning six of their seven matches thus far, Adelaide City is currently on a run of three league wins in a row and is eager to make it four and potentially take the top spot.
