Junior Match Official Pathway
The Junior Football Match Official (JFMO) qualification equips aspiring referees with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to officiate community junior football. This pathway includes an online course and an in-person Classroom Recap & Practical session.
To be eligible for the Junior Match Official pathway, you must be under 18 years old or beginning your refereeing journey, and you must have completed the Laws of the Game.
The Junior Online Course covers:
Challenges & foul recognition
Handball interpretations
Offside
Match control & game management
Referee positioning concepts
Junior Football Match Official Online Course
The in-person session is compulsory. You will:
Review key refereeing concepts
Engage in classroom discussions
Practice techniques in on-field simulated match scenarios
Receive guidance from Football South Australia Educators
You must complete this session to become qualified. Upcoming practical courses are displayed below.
Once you complete both components, you are eligible to officiate in local Junior Football Competitions within your Member Federation.
