Adelaide Atletico VSC has been recognised as Football South Australia’s Club Changer Club of the Month for August, under the theme of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
The club has demonstrated strong leadership in building an environment where players, coaches, and volunteers from all backgrounds feel welcome and supported. With a philosophy of “let’s just play”, Adelaide Atletico VSC prioritises participation, enjoyment, and player well-being, alongside competitive success.

A number of initiatives highlight this commitment. While the elite teams operate through a selection process, all other playing pathways, from MiniRoos to Senior Football, are open and free from trials, while the club’s Inclusion Team provides genuine opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in a supportive environment. Women’s football remains a focal point, with female players now making up more than 25% of registrations, and in 2025 the club proudly fielded three senior women’s teams and five junior girls’ teams.
Financial accessibility is another core value, with the club keeping registration fees affordable, offering flexible payment options, and providing subsidies for families in need. Leadership diversity is also reflected in the club’s structure, with both the President and Vice-President being women, and nearly half of the Board made up of female members.
Survey results continue to highlight a strong “sense of belonging” and an “inclusive atmosphere” as the top reasons members join and remain with the club. This has been supported by steady growth in female participation and positive feedback from families involved in the Inclusion Team.

Adelaide Atletico VSC views football as more than a game, it is a way to connect communities, celebrate differences, and create equal opportunities for everyone to thrive.
