Here's another instalment of 'On The Bench,' as we get to know the coaches who are leading their teams out into Season 2022.
This week we get to know State League One Senior Men's Coach, Gareth Von Duve for the Adelaide Hills.

Why did you become a coach?
Originally I wanted to coach the junior players of our club but due to an injury I wanted to become a Senior Coach for the challenge of coming up against great coaches and players.
Who is your coaching idol; and why?
Tony D'Agostino, he is a club legend at my home club of International and the reason I wanted to become a Senior Coach. He had a philosophy that made us as players respect him so much.

What has been your biggest achievement(s) as a coach?
When I was an U/17 coach, we won three Premierships in a row, and also surviving my first senior coaching gig in the State League One.

The MetroStars squad of 2017, and Adelaide City of 2009.

What excites you most about the 2022 Season?
The challenge ahead of what looks to be a difficult in the way of Covid but also the State League One teams have recruited well.
Name a player in your squad under the age of 23 who we should look out for in 2022 and why?
Owen Smith - A beautiful left back who has an engine and really good passing range. Hopefully can be more damaging closer to goal
Which new transfer are you most excited to be working with and why?
Ayrton Bevins - has a lot of excitement about him at training, great finisher in front of goal
And finally....Besides finishing as high in the table as possible, what are your goals for the season ahead?
To build the squad and become stronger defensively. Also hoping to blood some youngsters again
