Celebrating South Australia's Football Heritage: Second and final Museum Session for History Month

As History Month draws to a close, Football South Australia is proud to announce a special second and final session at the Football SA Museum.

Join us on both Tuesday 27th May & Wednesday 28th May at ServiceFM Stadium. The event will feature four engaging presentations that dive deep into the stories of local clubs and influential figures who shaped the sport.

Hear from our Tuesday presenters:

Peter Herd will explore the story of Wakefield Wanderers, one of SA’s early clubs with a unique place in our football folklore.

Steve Caggiano will delve into the proud history of USC Lion, tracing its roots and community impact.

John Van Der Veeken will walk attendees through the journey of Sturt Lions, from humble beginnings to today’s competitive landscape.

Raz Di Carlo, a long-serving administrator and Australian national team manager, will reflect on the evolution of governance and international representation from a South Australian lens.

Each session is supported by members of our dedicated Museum Working Group Volunteers, who will be on-site to offer guided tours of the exhibit, share fascinating anecdotes, and answer your questions about the state’s football heritage.

Set against the iconic ServiceFM Stadium, this is more than just a history talk, it’s a celebration of the clubs, characters, and community spirit that have helped grow the game across South Australia.
