Wednesday, October 1 saw the state’s top young talent take to the pitch for the Football Five5 Club Championship Cup Finals, with six boys’ teams and five girls’ teams battling it out in a full day of high-octane five-a-side football.
Boys' teams representing Adelaide City, Campbelltown City, Adelaide Comets, Adelaide Croatia Raiders, Adelaide Atletico, and Plympton Bulldogs were joined by girls' teams from Campbelltown City, Adelaide Uni, Adelaide Comets, Adelaide City, and Port Adelaide Pirates. The event brought together clubs from across the region, turning the venue into a hub of footballing energy and excitement.

Held during the school holiday break, the Championship Cup provided young players with more than just competitive matches, it offered a chance to refine their skills in a fast-paced format, stay active, and connect socially outside the classroom. The compact nature of the five-a-side game, played on smaller pitches with smaller goals, keeps every player constantly involved, encouraging quick decision-making and teamwork.
In the boys’ championship final, Adelaide City emerged victorious over Adelaide Comets, capping off a strong performance throughout the day. The girls’ final saw Campbelltown City take on Adelaide Uni, with Campbelltown clinching the title.

The Football Five5 Championship Cup also serves as a lead-in to the upcoming Football SA FiveAA Football Five5 Summer League, which kicks off on Monday, October 13. Open to the public, the league welcomes teams across a range of age groups and skill levels, with registrations closing Monday, October 6.
The FiveAA Football Five5 format is designed for maximum excitement, featuring quick-fire 20-minute halves, unlimited substitutions, and 5-a-side squads with up to five substitutes. With its smaller pitches and every-touch-matters mentality, the game offers a fun, high-energy experience suitable for all fitness levels.
Competitions are available for, Juniors (U7–U16), Seniors (16+) and Masters (35+).
