The Limestone Coast Football Association is thrilled to welcome Football SA referee legend Michelle Smith for a special visit on the weekend of 18–20 July 2025.
Michelle will be joining us for the Referee Education Weekend, and she’s keen to meet as many aspiring referees, both adults and children, as possible. If you’ve ever considered becoming a referee, this is the perfect opportunity to get started.

Michelle Smith
General Manager – Referee Education, Training, and Compliance at Football South Australia.
With over 30 years in football and more than 20 years contributing to the development of South Australian match officials, Michelle is a former FIFA Assistant Referee, having officiated at the U19 Women’s World Championships, the National Women’s Soccer League and the first female to officiate a National Youth League Grand Final. She holds qualifications as an Advanced Referee Coach, Development Instructor, Level 1 Emeritus Referee, Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach, along with certifications in Fitness, WHS, Training and Assessment, and the AICD Foundations of Directorship. Michelle is a long-standing member of the Football Australia National Panel of Referee Coaches and Instructors, with a strong focus on developing match officials and creating positive, inclusive environments for referees at all levels.
