Gambier Centrals Strengthening Volunteer Culture Through Club Changer

Gambier Centrals is proud to provide a positive, inclusive and supportive environment for volunteers across the club, recognising that volunteers are the foundation of everything the club does.

As part of the Club Changer theme of Volunteer and Workforce, the club has continued to focus on creating an environment where volunteers feel welcomed, valued and supported in their roles.

From committee members and coaches to match day helpers, administrators and junior volunteers, Gambier Centrals understands the important role volunteers play in keeping the club running and creating a strong football environment for players, families and the wider community.

The club actively supports its volunteers by ensuring they have access to the information, resources and guidance needed to perform their roles with confidence. Committee members and senior coaches are available to provide support, answer questions and assist volunteers across all areas of the club.

Gambier Centrals also encourages volunteers and members to participate in training and education opportunities, including coaching accreditation, first aid, child safety and refereeing courses. Where possible, experienced members are encouraged to mentor new volunteers, helping them build confidence and feel more connected to the club.

Recognition is also a key part of the club’s volunteer culture. Gambier Centrals celebrates and acknowledges the contribution of volunteers through thank you messages, public acknowledgement, club events and end-of-season awards.

The Club Changer Program has provided the club with valuable tools and resources to review and strengthen its volunteer practices. Through the program, Gambier Centrals has been able to improve role clarity, strengthen communication and ensure volunteers are working within a more organised, inclusive and supportive environment.

The program has also encouraged the club to place greater focus on volunteer development, wellbeing, recognition and succession planning. By doing so, Gambier Centrals is building a stronger volunteer culture where people feel better equipped in their roles and more confident to contribute in meaningful ways.

Looking ahead, the club remains focused on strengthening volunteer recruitment, retention and wellbeing to help create a sustainable future for its volunteer workforce.

Through Club Changer, Gambier Centrals is continuing to build a strong foundation for volunteers, helping make their experience more positive, rewarding and valued within football.
