Match Official Appointments – Senior Men’s Grand Finals

Football SA is pleased to announce that Daniel Cook has been appointed as the Referee for the 2022 RAA National Premier Leagues SA Grand Final presented by ServiceFM, being played at ServiceFM Stadium tomorrow evening.

In a season where Daniel became only the sixth Referee to reach 100 RAA NPL SA matches, he will whistle the NPL SA Grand Final for a fourth time, having previously refereed the showpiece fixture in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Daniel will be joined tomorrow evening by Henry Day & Nick Elagin as Assistant Referees. Regis Queffelec, who made his return to refereeing in 2022 after a six-year break, has been appointed as the Fourth Official.

Promising young Match Official Samuel McLeod Banwell has been selected as the Shadow Referee for the match, and will join the Match Officials team to experience the RAA NPL SA Grand Final environment. He will have a front-row seat to the action unfolding before and during the match, as well as being involved in the post-match debriefing with the Match Officials team and the Referee Coach, Andrew Murray.

On being announced as the Referee for tomorrow night’s showpiece match, Daniel said:

“It is an honour to be considered for this game, as the standard of Match Officials we have in this state is first-class. We wouldn’t be able to do this without the world class referee coaching that we receive, and hopefully we can play a part in continuing SA’s reputation as a premier footballing environment.”

Daniel Goodwin will referee the State League One Grand Final on Saturday evening. This will be Daniel’s second appearance in a Final at ServiceFM Stadium this year, having been the man in the middle for the Football SA Federation Cup Final back in July. The experienced Match Official will be supported by Assistant Referees Andrew Kite & Eric Ford Sestili, with Isabella Blaess the Fourth Official.

The State League Two Grand Final sees Liam Miller appointed as the Referee of a Senior Grand Final for the first time, having been appointed as Fourth Official on this fixture last season. Liam’s team on Saturday afternoon consists of Thomas Temby & Jayden Betterman as Assistant Referees, with Mark Michael as Fourth Official.

Football SA State Referees Committee Chair, Michelle Smith, said:

“Congratulations to all Match Officials appointed to Grand Final matches this weekend, and thank you to our entire refereeing community for a fantastic season. The future of refereeing in South Australia is looking very bright, especially with fantastic role models such as Daniel Cook leading the way. Best of luck to all this weekend!”
