NTC trio selected for Young Matildas Camp

Football South Australia is delighted to announce that three NTC players have been selected for the upcoming Westfield Young Matildas Camp in Sydney.

Abbey Burns, Emilia 'Milsy' Murray and Ella Tonkin will travel to Sydney to report to Leah Blayney and join the 27-player squad for the camp, which takes place 28-30 June.

The girls are enjoying a solid season in the Women's NPL in South Australia, with their NTC side sitting 3rd on the ladder; their best start to a WNPLSA season.

Striker Milsy Murray is on top form, currently sitting on 8 goals in 8 games.

Working in conjunction with Westfield W-League coaches, Member Federation staff and regional coaches, Blayney and her technical staff have identified players from across Australia to continue the Westfield Young Matildas’ campaign for the 2022 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup.

Football SA NTC Coach, Michele Lastella is proud of the trio.

I am extremely pleased to see three of our girls receive a call up to an upcoming Young Matilda’s camp. From a team perspective, this is a reflection of the environment the girls have created such that they are constantly working hard and pushing each other. I also feel the recent international call ups of previous NTC players such as Charli Grant and Dylan Holmes acts as inspiration for the girls in our program.

The squad consists of members from Capital Football, Football NSW, Football SA, Football Victoria, Football West and Northern NSW Football.

“It is always exciting to be able to come together as a team of players and staff,” said Blayney.

“Every assembly is an opportunity to become one day better as a group.  For this camp, we are looking to build on seeds planted from previous Elite Matches as we further bed down our playing style and re-affirm the expectations we set as a team.”
