RAA NPLSA Goals Wrap | Round Eleven
Adelaide United’s youth team edged out Cumberland United 3-2 on the weekend, treating spectators at Mount Barker’s Summit Sport and Recreation Park to an entertaining contest.
It was Cumberland who drew first blood, however, as Jumar Oakley’s mazy run down the left wing and curling shot into the bottom corner completed a rapid counter-attacking move in the 15th minute.
Just as it looked like the Young Reds would enter the break a goal behind, Mohamed Toure produced a sublime piece of skill to restore parity, as his dipping strike from 25 yards sneaked in at the far post to make it 1-1.
It took until the 77th minute for United to break the deadlock and did so in incredible fashion, as Jonny Yull’s corner delivery sailed over the head of the keeper and rippled the back of the net.
Yaya Dukuly looked to put the result beyond doubt ten minutes later, as he finished his one-on-one with the keeper coolly from Nestor Irankunda’s assist, prompting jubilant backflips from both players as United went 3-1 ahead.
Cumberland threatened to spoil the party when Jumar Oakley scored another sensational goal three minutes later, but it proved to be in vain as the Young Reds claimed all three points.

Adelaide Olympic caused the upset of the round with a shock 3-0 victory over second-placed Adelaide Comets, while ten-man Campbelltown City held on for a 2-1 over Adelaide Blue Eagles.
Sturt Lions and MetroStars both triumphed in 3-1 wins over South Adelaide and Adelaide Croatia Raiders respectively, while ladder leaders Adelaide City had to settle for a 1-1 with Croydon FC.
