Salisbury Inter Host Junior Girls Carnival

It was a big day at Underdown Park on Sunday 28 February, as Salisbury Inter Soccer Club hosted a Junior Girls Carnival.

U13 – U17 girls from across Adelaide came together, with 25 teams playing 40 games from early in the morning to well into the evening.

The carnival gave the girls an opportunity for some pre-season game time - allowing them to further develop skills, learn more about the game, try a new position or two, and all in a low pressure, fun environment.

Teams from Salisbury Inter, Adelaide Uni, Fulham, Metro United, Modbury Jets, Cove Marion, and West Adelaide were all involved, and it was great to see so many spectators encouraging the girls while enjoying the sunshine. The event was the brainchild of President Bianca Simeoni who has long wanted to put together such a carnival in the pre-season.

“Fortunately this year the weather was on our side and we were finally able to see the day come to fruition. With the help of our new technical Director Jono Ruse, we were able to bring many clubs together and showcase the game in this format - with the emphasis on fun and learning, rather than keeping score. After the challenges of last year, we are all looking forward to the season ahead and to hopefully running a similar preseason carnival annually."

Salisbury Inter continues to grow football in the North of Adelaide and has a robust offering of mini and junior teams which run alongside their men’s SAASL and women’s social and WNPL teams.
