We have a doubleheader of Friday night State League action to kick off Round Four as Adelaide Hills host West Adelaide at the Hawks Nest, while Para Hills Knights travel to Smith Partners Stadium to battle Modbury Jets.

State League One

SL1

Friday night football continues as league leaders Modbury Jets host second-place Para Hills Knights in must-see State League One action. Modbury Jets have started the season in great spirits, recording three wins in three games, with the most recent coming in a 5-2 win against recently promoted Adelaide University SC. Modbury Jets currently have the best-attacking output in the competition, scoring 14 goals, which is double the next best in the competition. Hamish McCabe continues to impress early in the season, while Josh Farrell, Stefan Matteo and Harrison Conant continue to show their quality in front of goals. They now face their biggest challenge as they come across one of the best defensive sides in the competition Para Hills Knights, who currently sit on two wins and a draw to start the season. Para Hills Knights are fresh off a strong 3-0 win over newly-promoted Port Adelaide. New signings Austyn Scambiatterra and Keshav Shrestha have looked effective thus far, with both getting on the scoresheet in their last outing. A victory for either side will be extremely important as they look to take an early lead at the top of State League One.

West Adelaide travels to the Hawk’s Nest to battle with Adelaide Hills as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the season. After a difficult 2021 season, life under new coach Jim Tsekinis is looking positive in 2022 as West Adelaide enter Round Four in third place without experiencing defeat. Their most recent match saw them draw 1-1 with Adelaide Victory, as Peter Katsambis scored his second of the season to secure a point. Adelaide hills will look to bounce back after experiencing back-to-back defeats without scoring a goal, with the most recent coming against Adelaide Croatia Raiders last Friday night in a 2-0 loss. Defensively Adelaide Hills has looked strong, currently holding the joint third-best defensive record only conceding three in three. However, they must look to improve in the attack as they have currently only scored two goals in their opening three, the joint second-worst in the competition.

State League One football continues as Playford City host Eastern United, Fulham United FC play Adelaide Victory at West Beach Parks Football Centre, while Adelaide Croatia Raiders travels to Ngarrpadla (Taperoo Reserve) to face Port Adelaide in Saturday night action. Adelaide University SC and Adelaide Blue Eagles clash has been postponed until further notice after last week’s COVID outbreak.

State League Two

SL2

State League Two Round Four action holds many exciting matchups on Saturday afternoon. Adelaide Cobras host Western Strikers at Pro Paint & Panel Oval – Weigall Oval, as both clubs’ faceoff for the first time since their relegation from State League One in 2021. Adelaide Cobras have looked the team to beat in the early stages of the season, with the team recording three wins in three matches without conceding a goal. In their most recent fixture, Adelaide Cobras were able to hold off a strong Pontian Eagles SC attack to win 2-0. They will be without star player Perry Mitris for this upcoming fixture as he serves a suspension. Western Strikers have not adapted to life in State League Two very well, as they have experienced back-to-back losses, with only one win in three matches. Their most recent loss came against Noarlunga United, as the away side recorded a 3-1 win over Western Strikers. Facing Adelaide Cobras is no easy task; however, Western Strikers must ensure they don’t experience three matches without a win.

Mount Barker United SC’s strong start to the season will look to continue as they look for their fourth consecutive win as they battle Vipers FC at Summit Sport and Recreation Park. Mount Barker sits at the top of the State League Two ladder and has now scored eleven goals in just three games, with their most recent win coming against Seaford Rangers in a 2-1 victory. They now face last year’s State League Two Grand Finalist Vipers FC who will hope to pick up their form. Vipers FC is yet to pick up a victory thus far, experiencing one loss and two draws, with a 3-3 draw with Salisbury United being their most recent. A win in round four is needed for Vipers FC, to ensure they don’t drop behind the top two early in the season.

In other State League Two action sees Seaford Rangers battle Gawler Eagles FC, while Salisbury United host Pontian Eagles SC at Steve Jarvis Park – Burton, Cove FC travel to Wilfred Taylor Reserve to face Noarlunga United and Modbury Vista host Northern Demons at Newspot Stadium.
