In a thrilling clash, West Adelaide emerged victorious against Sturt Lions in the 2024 WNPL&WSL Cup final, held at ServiceFM Stadium. The match, marked by early goals and intense competition, concluded with a 4-2 victory for West Adelaide.
The action began swiftly, with Sturt Lions' gun Niina Yamada finding the net in just the 4th minute, setting an electrifying tone for the game. However, West Adelaide's Nicole Blackett responded almost immediately, equalising in just the 6th minute after a rebounded shot from Lily Di Cola. The momentum shifted decisively when player of the match Lily Di Cola scored three minutes later, giving West Adelaide a 2-1 lead as early as the 9th minute.

As the first half progressed, Sturt Lions fought valiantly, with Sturt levelling the score after Ruth Sundquist provided a pivotal touch from a 42nd minute corner. Sturt were left feeling confident as they headed into halftime with a crucial late goal against Go Sunny Solar WNPL League leaders.
The second half saw West Adelaide intensify their offensive efforts, a Georgia Macri goal restoring their lead. The match seemed to be heading for a narrow victory until a Tessie Mitchell cross come shot, sealed the win with a decisive goal in the 95th minute.
