Football SA is experiencing an exciting period of growth, participation expansion, and major game development initiatives — and we’re looking for an Accounts Officer to join our high‑performing team.

We are a large member-based organisation and the governing body for football in South Australia, with an official participant base of in excess of 45,000 players across 14 associations, with over 300 clubs statewide.

We are responsible for high performance programs for talented athletes, competition management, the management and performance of Service FM Stadium, governance, financial management and strategy for the game in the state.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a fantastic entry point into sports administration, offering exposure across the full finance function and the opportunity to support the operations of South Australia’s largest participation sport.

You will be responsible for supporting the General Manager Finance to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the organisation’s financial affairs undertaking end-to-end accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank and other reconciliations.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Xero user and will have used the Microsoft Suite extensively. The position requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.

REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Football SA General Manager Finance.
  • Provide administration and finance support to the Chief Executive Officer, Departmental Managers, and Finance Team.
  • Works collaboratively with all Football SA Employees, Football Australia, Clubs, Affiliated Associations and Stakeholders.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Accounts payable function - process supplier invoices for payments ensuring invoices are authorised in line with the Delegation of Authority Policy and within approved terms.
  • Accounts receivable function – process invoices and payments received from customers in the finance system and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Daily Bank Reconciliation.
  • Assist the General Manager Finance and undertake other administration duties as required.
  • Payroll
  • Balancing and depositing of monies received.
  • Handle finance inquiries both internal and external.
  • Credit card expenditure processing and reconciliation.

 

KNOWLEDGE, BEHAVIOUR AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Organisational skills, time management skills and ability to work positively under pressure and with changing work priorities.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of Microsoft Office applications is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Xero or similar accounting package is essential.
  • Data integration knowledge.
  • Understanding how AP/AR contributes to month-end, year-end, reporting, and cashflow
  • Understanding of GST and employment awards.
  • Able to learn new systems or processes quickly and operate well in changing environments.
  • A current driver’s licence and own reliable transport is desirable.
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
  • You will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate verbally and in written form, intermediate proficiency using Excel.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience as an Accounts Officer or Bookkeeper.
  • Aged Receivable / Payable Management including credit control.
  • Experience in Sports Administration or Venues Management.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in Payroll
